Here are 3 steps to give you a start: Identify what brings you joy. Plan for what you want to do. Celebrate that you did it for yourself.
Sometimes we allow life to consume our way of thinking when it comes to building a self care day. This message is to encourage you to put yourself first. You deserve a day, a few hours, or a moment to just be.
We are going to start with 3 key principles when planning a self care day.
Identify what YOU would like to do. Every self care opportunity does NOT have to involve a spa influenced setting. While that is nice, other opportunities of music, film, dance, or entertainment may also become relaxing. Exercises, exploring, and adventures could be another. Think of what you like to do that actually reaches enjoyment.
Plan! Plan! Plan! When you plan, you can win. Let’s talk about affordability. The amount of money spent attempting to create a self care day on the spot may cause a dent in the pocket I the present, and a delay for the next self care day to come. Yet if you plan, you can give yourself variety & instead of scarcity. Imagine a small, medium, large category when it comes to making plans. Here are some examples.
Small scale: you may want to see a movie & have a meal. Maybe catch an early show & happy hour at a near by restaurant in the area. This will allow a get away for a few hours to reset what you enjoy.
Medium scale: you may want to get your hair done or cut, take a walk with your favorite drink, and attend a concert or event later. This allows you to indulge in creativity that you might have put off for a while in the past.
Large scale: it's the biggie in saving, but it would be worth it. You can have a great workout, book a spa day in a relaxing spa house and treat yourself to dinner. With this idea you can be pampered & take care of your body.
Celebrate your victory!
All of these elements are in totality for YOU. Let’s break it down like this. You've worked all day, week, and month long. You may have other people to take care of that depend on you. Who is going to fill your cup? When do you get a moment to yourself to regulate your feelings, emotions, and what excites you?
We want to encourage your mindset of customized self care.
It's not selfish, it's intentional! Enjoy your self care day!
